As a painter and decorator in Malvern the news of 800 new homes provokes mixed emotions in me. As a decorator it would mean more work, but as someone who has lived in the area for more decades than I can count on one hand it is sad to see green fields turned over to development.
Don't mistake me for a NIMBY either. I know the country needs the houses, (we are woefully short at about 100,000 a year!) but it is these large developments that cause the most consternation for local people. The infrastructure isn't there: education, health, road and employment will all be burdened by such a concentration.
It does indeed make you wonder about the future of our communities, and that what we took for granted will no longer be passed onto future generations.
Reading the comments on the Malvern Gazzette section, it is clear that most people who commented are opposed to this. Are you?
